it doesn’t hurt enough to move
I remember a story I was told back from my mlm days and I want to retell it here as it relates to high gas prices.
Two men are sitting outside one night, talking. The visitor heard his friend’s dog whimper as he’s laying on the porch. A few minutes later the dog whimpers again.
So the visitors asks “what’s wrong with your dog?”
The owner of the home replices with “he’s lying on an old rusty nail sticking out of the porch.”
“Why doesn’t he get up and move?”
“Guess it doesn’t hurt enough.”
And I’d say that’s exactly how gas was for us. At $2/gallon it didn’t hurt enough. Then when it went to $3/gallon, it still didn’t hurt enough. I don’t know if it will hurt enough to make us move at $4/gallon, but I know we’re getting closer, and that gives me hope that things will get better.
