I recently did a home refinance. My house payment was much higher than I was comfortable with paying. I had lost my job due to downsizing, and I was forced to take a job that paid a much lower salary. It was rough at times, trying to pay my mortgage payment and my insurance, taxes, and utilities. Since interest rates had dropped, I decided to refinance. I only borrowed enough to pay off my mortgage, as I didn’t have any high interest credit cards or other bills to pay off. Now, I have a much lower mortgage payment, one I feel more comfortable with.
