Roughing It
My sister, who lives in Tennessee, tried for years to sell me on the advantages of living there. She said I could buy a log cabin and have a lot of fun.
I’ve lived in Florida my entire adult life and all I could picture was me living in a rustic hovel, complete with an outhouse, broken down wooden fences, and no heat in winter.
But it turns out that cabins have come a long way. I visited my sister and we went cabin-hunting. Although the homes we were made of logs and had (non-broken) Split Rail Fencing, everything about them was charming and modern. They had efficient heating and cooling, beautiful wooden floors, and modern appliances. No outhouse.
I am writing this on my cabin’s porch while enjoying the mountain view.
I hate it when Sis is right.
