Watching the Travelers Championship this weekend, it was evident that third round leader finally had the focus not to stumble down the stretch to win. Unfortunately, it is not the same with amateurs when I see them here for Myrtle Beach Golf. Most groups play games and with just a little money on the line, you can see how the pressure gets to the leader as his game falls apart over the last few holes of the last round. It is not that fact that he looks at the leader board to see where he stands since there isn’t one. He keeps checking his scorecard and each bad shot creates more and more mental pressure and focus is lost. The key is to play the game with little attention to the scorecard and focus on the next shot.
