Travel Insurance and Common Exclusions

So….you want to take a trip and you want to be sure that you and your family are financially prepared should you become ill and/or die ? Sounds like a good idea ! Insurance for travel is a good way to take care of these concerns. There are a multitude of companies that provide this type of service. There are exclusions however and one needs to be aware of them. Here is a short listing. 1) pre-existing medical conditions such as COPD 2) participating in high risk activities such as sky diving and bungee jumping 3) injuries caused in part by alcohol and/or drug use, and 4) traveling to area of instability i.e. civil war for example. Before you purchase insurance make sure that you understand these exclusions. Not every company will have the same ones. Some high risk behaviors will be covered by certain insurance companies while others will not. Be careful and research before you pay for something that ends up a useless expense.
